Myette + Gerry: Beloved

This past February, Jonathan and I had the chance to be able to sit in on one of the most powerful talks at WPPI hosted by the wonderful Jesh de Rox, who is the founder of a movement called Beloved Movement.  A Beloved Session is very special and unique in itself. It’s a session that openly invites clients into a series of genuine and deep emotions found within themselves.  It’s not just a portrait session, but a remembrance and celebration of love. There’s something so moving and powerful about these sessions that make me realize how amazingly beautiful people are. I’m a huge advocate and believer in this movement because I still believe that in this insane world of busyness, love can conquer all.

A few weeks ago Jonathan and I experience our own beloved session photographed by one of our good friends Gladys.  One of the reasons why I wanted to do a beloved session was because often times in life Jonathan and I get so caught up with everyday life: being parents, running a business, work, cleaning the house, bills, and the list goes on and on. We’ve been together for almost 10 years and in the ten years just like anything we need a tune up in our love lives. After being listening to Jesh’s talk in February I knew exactly what we needed to “tune-up” our love.  It was a way for us to remember how deep and passionate our love is for one another and to remember that in timeless photographs that we can pass down to our beautiful daughters.

This past Easter, I was able to photograph my first Beloved session on two of the most beautiful and amazing people I know.   Myette and Gerry have been married for over 35 years. They have three wonderful grown children and three beautiful grandchildren.  Their love and lives have gone through many ups and downs with one another.  Having recently experience “empty nest” syndrome, they have shared some challenges in being able to reconnect with one another like they used to when they first were married.  This Beloved session was a way for them to be able to remember and celebrate one another’s love for eachother.  I was so honored to be the one to be able to help invite those feelings back into their lives. I wont lie, I was in tears during their session, to see, hear, and experience the energy coming from them was just amazing.

Myette and Gerry are my parents and their love is beautiful, deep, passionate, and very real. Enjoy!
